Service Learning

Service Learning is an intrinsic part of the Wolcott experience. As part of our mission, we are committed to guiding students to develop habits of caring for and helping others. In order to heighten its relevance, importance, and impact, Service Learning is integrated throughout the high school curriculum.

Some of the organizations that Wolcott students have volunteered at include:

Casa Central

Chicago Thanksgiving Basket Brigade

Christopher House

Horizons for Youth

Lakeview Pantry

Ronald McDonald House

Talcott Elementary School

Service Learning opportunities present in a multitude of ways. Often the selected service projects reinforce lessons being taught in the classroom. The result is a broad and varied range of activities and projects from mentoring kindergartners at neighboring Talcott School to working on a collective farm in Guatemala. It is common for students to come up with their own ideas about ways to serve one another and the wider community. Drawing collectively on its strengths and interests, the Wolcott community works together to expand their community service experiences and impact.
